ABOUT THE ROOM

Front-Facing & Natural Light | Private Furnished Room in Lakewood

Twiga Room is a spacious, light-filled private furnished bedroom positioned at the front of Suite 35A, with multiple windows bringing natural light into the room and providing views toward Upham Street and the mature neighborhood trees surrounding the property.

Named Twiga — Swahili for giraffe, the room’s identity is reflected throughout its Kenyan-inspired décor. Colorful giraffe artwork, African wildlife accents, and warm textile details give the bedroom its own distinct personality while keeping the space grounded and practical for everyday living.

The giraffe theme gives Twiga a playful but still rooted East African character. Combined with warm wood furnishings, natural light, and leafy front-facing views, the room feels bright, colorful, and residential rather than staged or generic.

A dedicated workspace, dresser, built-in closet storage, and ceiling fan round out the room’s practical side, giving the resident a private space that works equally well for sleeping, working, reading, or settling into a daily routine.

Property & Layout Considerations

Each residence has its own separate entrance and interior living environment. Suites 35A and 35B share an HVAC system, with the central thermostat located inside Suite 35A. The thermostat is maintained within the property's standard operating range of approximately 70°F–75°F to provide a predictable, stable residential comfort profile for both homes. Residents requiring exclusive climate conditions outside the property's standard range may prefer housing with dedicated, isolated HVAC control.
  • Shared-Living Occupancy: Two residents maximum; one resident per private furnished bedroom.
  • Pet-Free Residence: Suite 35A is strictly pet-free. Our broader portfolio includes pet-friendly shared-living residences.
  • Mattresses: Mattresses may sit slightly higher than standard residential bed heights.
  • Bathroom Configuration: Residents share one traditional bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

Smoking & Cannabis

Smoking, vaping, and marijuana use are prohibited inside the residence, garage, and all enclosed areas. Smoking and any legally permitted cannabis use are allowed only outdoors in the property's designated smoking area, with proper disposal and in accordance with applicable law.

Who This Works Well For

Shared Living is designed for an accountable, clean, and independent resident with steady, verifiable income who wants a peaceful furnished place to settle in and is comfortable sharing a home with one other independently screened resident.

A good fit is someone who values personal space while respecting that kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, laundry facilities, and outdoor spaces are shared. Residents should be comfortable cleaning up promptly after themselves, participating equitably in routine household upkeep, respecting quiet hours and property boundaries, and maintaining their private bedroom in clean, sanitary condition.

We provide independent furnished housing. Residents must be able to manage their own daily living and household responsibilities independently.

Screening & Residency

  • Standardized Screening: We use a standardized screening process to evaluate standard housing qualifications, property fit, and practical shared-living compatibility. Screening includes the Resident Screening & Household-Fit Questionnaire followed, where there appears to be mutual fit, by identity, income, rental-history, and background verification. Government-issued identification is required.
  • Residency Terms: Single occupancy per bedroom. One-month minimum stay with month-to-month residency thereafter, subject to the Residency Agreement.
  • Household Compatibility: We screen prospective residents for practical shared-living compatibility but do not guarantee roommate compatibility or manage ordinary interpersonal disagreements. Where applicable, an existing resident may provide practical household-compatibility input; final resident-selection decisions remain with us as the housing provider.

Shared-Home Standards

  • Residents are responsible for routine household cleaning and cleaning up promptly after themselves.
  • Residents participate equitably in a simple resident-managed household cleaning and upkeep roster.
  • Private bedrooms must be maintained in clean, sanitary condition.
  • Resident belongings must not create unsanitary conditions, pest risks, excessive accumulation, blocked doors, windows, walkways or vents, fire or safety hazards, property damage, or interference with reasonable inspection, maintenance, or repair access.
  • Quiet-hours, visitor, smoking, safety, property-care, and shared-household requirements apply throughout the residency.
  • To maintain the privacy of all residents and uphold our low-density living environment, overnight guests are not permitted. Visitors must comply with applicable residence and shared-household requirements.
  • Shared-Space Etiquette: Shared outdoor areas are available for resident use, while individual entrances, garages, parking areas, and other designated private spaces remain private to their respective residences.
  • Routine property inspections include both shared areas and resident bedrooms.
  • Smoking, vaping, and cannabis use are prohibited inside the residence and other enclosed areas.
