Our Story

Why Shared Living?

The Denver Metro area is an expensive place to establish a household. Rent is only part of the equation. Furnishing a home, setting up utilities and internet, purchasing household necessities, moving furniture, and maintaining an entire residence can create a substantial financial and logistical burden—particularly for someone relocating, working temporarily in the area, transitioning between homes, or simply choosing not to carry a full residence alone.

Shared living provides another path.

At KAY-FAR Shared Living, we take homes that are already furnished, equipped, connected, and functioning and make them available one private bedroom at a time.

But we intentionally stop at two residents per 2-bedroom residence.

The result is a practical middle ground between renting an entire furnished residence alone and living in a higher-density shared household.

Bring what is personal. We provide the furnished home around it.

KAY-FAR — pronounced KAY-FAR — grows from the same Kenyan hospitality, furnished residential environments, and owner-operated approach behind Kenyan Furnished Rentals. Our Shared Living model simply makes those homes available differently.

We intentionally operate small and low density. Our goal is not to fit as many residents as possible into each home. It is to make thoughtful use of the homes we already operate while preserving personal space, everyday function, and greater privacy within a shared environment.

We don't maximize beds. We preserve space.

KENYAN-INSPIRED DESIGN

Our Kenyan-inspired spaces reflect warmth, cultural hospitality, and gratitude—quiet places where residents can settle in and feel at home within a shared living environment.

Rooted in Kenya, where our founder was born, this is not a theme—it is a design approach focused on creating environments that feel grounded, stable, and welcoming.

Color and authentic Kenyan artwork—sourced directly from Kenya—are intentionally integrated throughout each space, creating an environment that feels lived-in, warm, and human rather than neutral or impersonal.

As an owner-operated furnished housing provider rooted in Kenyan hospitality, every space is personally designed and maintained with direct accountability—ensuring the environment supports everyday shared living, not complicates it.

COLOR + CULTURAL INTENT

Our website colors are intentional and rooted in the Kenyan flag—reflecting the cultural foundation behind our spaces.

Black — people and human connection
Red — resilience and the strength required to move through difficult moments
Green — grounding, restoration, and environmental stability
White — clarity, peace, and continuity

These principles are carried into each space through color, artwork, and layout—reinforcing a warm, grounded shared living environment.

KAY-FAR'S LOW-DENSITY APPROACH

Our Shared Living configuration is intentionally simple:

Two Residents. Two Bedrooms. One Roommate.

Each resident has a private furnished bedroom with a queen bed and dedicated workspace while sharing the kitchen, living areas, bathroom, in-suite laundry, utilities, and Wi-Fi with only one roommate under our current configuration.

The common areas are shared between only two residents, meaning fewer people sharing the kitchen, bathroom, living areas, and laundry—and more residential space available per person.

Your bedroom is yours. The home is shared.

WHO KAY-FAR SHARED LIVING IS FOR

KAY-FAR Shared Living offers another furnished-housing option for independently living adults who prefer a private bedroom without carrying the cost and responsibility of furnishing an entire residence.

Our shared-living residences may work well for:

KAY-FAR is designed for residents who are comfortable maintaining their own private space while sharing a kitchen, bathroom, living areas, and laundry facilities with one other resident.

Residents are expected to clean up promptly after themselves, participate equitably in routine household upkeep, respect quiet hours and property boundaries, and maintain their private bedroom in clean, sanitary condition.

KAY-FAR provides independent furnished housing. Residents manage their own daily living and household responsibilities while sharing the home respectfully with one other resident.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

KAY-FAR reflects the same principles that guide Kenyan Furnished Rentals:

We provide furnished housing that is practical, comfortable, and intentionally small.
